Inspired by the Canterbury Tales, a story of Ulrich von Lichtenstein, this is the story of William, a young squire with a gift for the tournament. After his master dies suddenly, the Lord is on the road with his cohorts Roland and Wat. Encountering the unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to establish genealogical documents to pass it off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man makes him a worthy knight at the country chivalrous competitive examinations, and finds romance along the way.
